Is there a way to stop the hose from sliding when the retainer is connected to keep it fixed?

Hose clip retainers were designed so that in an emergency where you can't unclip your bolt snap, you can slide it to see your gauge. Some divers put a twist in the hose clip retainer to take up some slack if needed.
