Are you a Diver who loves single tank reef diving with your Transpac XT Harness but also would like to the use same harness for more advanced dives with double cylinders?

Being the most versatile product in Dive Rite’s line, the Transpac XT allows you to dive several different gear configurations by simply swapping out the wing along with some additional mounting accessories. Items you will need: A wing that is rated for diving double cylinders A set of stabilizer plates Delrin Scalloped Thumbwheels or (a set of wing nuts)

You can convert your Transpac from a single tank rig to a doubles setup with 5 simple steps:

Items you will need:

  • A wing that is rated for diving double cylinders
  • A set of stabilizer plates
  • Delrin Scalloped Thumbwheels or (a set of wing nuts)

Step 1:

Remove the single tank specific rigging and wing from the back of the harness. This includes both cam straps and tank height adjustment strap. To remove the wing, you will need to first remove the assembly screws (these are not needed for doubles and can stay with your single tank wing).

Step 2:

Remove any accessories from the front of the harness that may not be needed, such as weight pockets if using steel doubles.

Step 3:

Now you can begin to attach your harness to your set of doubles. Start by placing your doubles specific wing on to the bolts of your doubles.

All of Dive Rite’s doubles wings have multiple grommets to choose from when mounting to your tanks. These different positions allow you to perfect your trim. If you are foot heavy, you should move the wing to the top grommet position to move the wing lower on the tanks. If you are front heavy, you should move the wing to the bottom grommet position to move the wing higher on the tanks.

Step 4:

Pull back the lumbar comfort pad to expose the grommets down the center of the harness. Then place your TransPac XT on to the bolts of your doubles.

Step 5:

Add Stabilizer Plates to the bolts of your doubles before using wing nuts or Delrin Scalloped Thumbwheels to secure the harness to the doubles. The Stabilizer Plates distribute the weight of the doubles across the TransPac’s soft backplate, giving you the same stable feel as a traditional metal backplate. The Stabilizer Plates also reinforce the grommets of the backplate.

As you tighten the wing nuts or Delrin Thumbwheels, the TransPac’s backplate will bend to take the shape of your doubles. Once secured you can reinstall the lumber comfort pad over the backplate.

And just like that you have taken your single tank set up and reconfigured it for doubles.
